Sally O’Malley, a beloved “SNL” character played by Molly Shannon, resurfaces as the choreographer for the Jonas Brothers.
On April 8, Molly Shannon hosted “Saturday Night Live” and returned as 50-year-old Sally O’Malley, a beloved character.
The persona made a comeback in a sketch that featured The Jonas Brothers, the episode’s musical guest, in which Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas all appeared on stage to introduce Sally O’Malley as the new choreographer for the group.
Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman, who played choreographers Gretel and Turbo, were informed by Kenan Thompson, who played the Jonas Brothers’ manager, that the band is seeking for a new, more “adult” concept.
Sally O’Malley is my name. I’m happy to report that I’m 50 years old. Shannon began by saying, “And I like to kick, stretch, and kick. I’m not one of those females who’s ashamed to announce her real age.
Shannon resumed the dance while wearing her iconic red and white two-piece outfit, saying the character’s catchphrase: “I’m 50! 50 years of age.
Then, as Shannon raised the waist of her red jeans to mimic Sally O’Malley’s earlier appearance on “SNL,” Thompson, Yang, and Fineman could be seen breaking character to chuckle.

Yang’s Turbo asked Shannon how old she was, and she said, “Honey, I’ve been 50 since before you were born.”
The well-known character made his or her debut in a 1999 comedy in which Sally O’Malley and the show’s presenter at the time, Danny DeVito, attend an open audition for the Rockettes.
At the time, Sally O’Malley was also 50 years old.
Nick Jonas stated they had a hunch Turbo and Gretel might not understand their new concept when he, Joe Jonas, and Kevin Jonas entered the stage.
Joe Jonas stated, “So we wanted to show them,” as the three brothers tore off their clothes to reveal attire that matched Sally O’Malley’s.
The group of four did a kick-and-stretch dance routine, but Nick Jonas was substituted by Sally O’Malley after messing up a step.
On the screen, a visual of a newspaper’s main page with the headline “new Jonas Brother is 50-year-old woman” emerges.
From 1995 until 2001, Shannon played recurrent roles on “SNL,” including Sally O’Malley and Mary Katherine Gallagher.
The “White Lotus” actor hosted the renowned comedy program for the second time on Saturday, and the Jonas Brothers appeared as the musical guest a third time.
